Finger ring with large oval dark green cabochon (Murano style glass handmade in Montreal), white yin-yang pattern, stainless steel adjustable base (US 8-9)

1. Using a torch with a 1000ºC flame, I melt glass rods of various colours around a mandril (a metal rod dipped in a separator to keep the metal and the glass from fusing together).
2. I flatten or roll the bead to reshape it. I can add gold or silver foil, murines (small patterns) or dichroic glass (with a metallic surface) to my bead.
3. When I am satisfied with the bead, I put it in a kiln to anneal it for at least 1 hour. The molecular links reform inside the glass, ensuring the bead is solid.
4. Once it has cooled, I take the bead off the mandril and remove all traces of separator.

Even if I anneal each bead to make it as resistant as possible, glass is fragile.

Wear it and store it with care.
